This is a lovely family portrait and the selective colours works well, though you missed the spot over his shoulder and under her chin. Also the flower/leaves between her feet have no real concept of belonging. It does not make sense why they are there, much less in the middle of a bridge. So for me the leaves are a major downside. Otherwise it is a nice portrait and Im sure the couple would be excited to have this. Though for me it just is not enough. |

A more careful placing of the light filtering through the bridge would have made this a bombshell photo. Waiting for the light to illuminate the child's face, for instance, would have been excellent. The blown patches on her dress serve as distractions instead of strengthening the scene using the ambient light. Having said that, the interaction and expressions are very good here. |

At first glance, I thought it was a sweet shot with a cute kid... nice family time together. The more I explore the photo though, I get confused. Why desaturate the surroundings, why is there a cornstalk between her feet, why is she wearing a fancy dress and no shoes, while the two guys are in relaxed attire with sneakers? And the line going down the woman's back and to her legs just looks horribly uncomfortable. It almost looks like the two guys are just relaxed and having fun, and she was stuck in the photo in a specifically posed manner. The kid IS adorable though, and I keep getting brought back to his cute little face, so maybe just a tighter crop would have helped here... at least for me. |
