My first entry under the new size limits which tells me that I haven't entered in far too long.

There is a bit of a story to my entry.

The item here is my wedding ring. A few days ago my wife and I were going to meet my brother and his family at the new mall north of Calgary. We decided to try a new way and got a little off the path we intended mainly because we couldn't see in the dark because our headlights were dirty. We stopped on a dirt road to clean them off with snow and I hopped back in the car and we made our way to the mall.

We stopped to get my niece an ornament at Hallmark and then met up with my brother for supper at a restaurant. I was in mid-sentence when I was shocked to realize that I did not have my ring on my hand. I dropped to the floor and searched everywhere I went in the restaurant and could not find it. I was in a panic! My wife went to Hallmark to see if I had dropped it there while I spoke to the staff at the restaurant.

While walking back to Hallmark it occurred to me that I could have dropped it when I took my gloves off. I hoped against hope that it was still in my glove or even in the pocket of my jacket which was still in the car.

I got the keys from my wife who was at the mall's customer service at this point. She was doing her best not to get mad.

I ran to the car and searched and searched with no luck. I returned to my wife and said good bye to my brother and his wife and headed for home.

We decided that we should at least try to look for the ring where we cleaned the headlights off. That was the last place we could look and though it was unlikely we would find it in the dark and on a snowy road we thought it was worth a try.

I saw where I had dug the snow out and used that gauge where the car was parked when I got in. My wife had stopped a fair distance away so we wouldn't run over the ring so she pulled the car up. As she pulled up the headlights briefly illuminated my ring...resting just on top of the ice. I had my head light with me and used it to retrieve my ring. If anyone had gone that way they likely would have mushed it into the snow. We could have buried it when we turned around. If it had been warmer it would have melted right into the slush. All these factors were against me and yet I found it...

So in honor of this ring, sitting gently on a bed of ice for me to find, I submit this image.

Irony! I showed this picture to my wife. She thought it was a contact lens. Funny since neither of WEAR contact lenses...
