 Taken from the 52nd floor of the Mori Building in Roppongi, Tokyo. That's the Tokyo Tower, which dominates the city's southwestern skyline.

In addition to cropping and desaturation, I cleaned up the sky, adjusted levels and curves, and sharpened a bit.

Konichiwa Philip-san :) Awesome shot of Tokyo tower! I was just there not too long ago and it is truly amazing. The desat works very well here because the tower just shines like a diamond trapped against the coals. Very nice capture indeed.

Thanks for all of your nice and helpful comments, everyone. This is my highest score so far and certainly better than I could have expected. I'm really psyched about it!

And I'll call or write you, Marac, when I get back from America. I'd love to go out shooting and to check out your discount camera shop with you. Plus, when I come back, I'll be bringing a Canon 300D with me. At least we won't be fighting over lenses at the store. ;-)

Yeh nice shot man ... thanks for the PM too, I replied so maybe we can go cruising around the junk shops in Chiba. I would think that there are many more in Tokyo but must be really expensive i guess, I have some friends in the junk stores and get a little bit of discount, what is it you are looking for anyway..

about this picture - I think you done a great job and I know this view only too well, looks superb in B&W. lets go out on a shoot together one day soon Phil.

I think it's lacking on contrast a little bit but the composition and choice of desat is fanstastic.

interesting. I don't believe I've ever seen a night shot in selective desat before. This is just beautiful. When I look at certain shots, I see them framed and on a wall somewhere. I see this one in an upscale cafe...very nice
