To those of you who commented on the focus, I agree entirely! That's the trouble with taking the shots on Sunday evening, I spent ages trying to get it right and this was the best shot I managed.
The problem was, I had to tilt the bulb steeply forward, to throw the reflection of the element out of shot. As it was only lit by the bulb itself, dimmed as far as I could, the aperture was wide open and shortened my DOF even more. What I SHOULD have done is switched over to manual and closed down that aperture as far as I could, but of course I came to that conclusion on the Monday!!
Thanks all for your comments and the surprisingly high placing - I shall try and better it for the next challenge!! |

I like this shot because it seems to be more of a "suggestion" of a light bulb than an actuality. Has a nice mysterious kind of abstract feel to it. This is definitely a good example of "less is more". lhall |

nice closeup of a lightbulb, but it looks like the base is more in focus then the bulk of the bulb. |

I like this. The amber color is so warm. I'd like to know how you did this. |

I would like this more if the focus was a bit sharper... but I still like it ~anachronite |

Lovely detail - you've got the exposure just right in this, even to the point of showing some of the filament wire. The focus doesn't seem to be quite right, though that could be the reflections on the bulb - makes it look slightly blurred unfortunately. Hard to control those reflections in this case. Good effort though. |
