ARGH!!!! Those comments! There is just the right amount of "empty space" to create a sense of place. Nothing is wasted. And are people really complaining about grain in a newspaper challenge? Egads! This was my favorite for this challenge. It had an actual headline, relevence, artistic merit, the works. I'm really disappointed to see it place in the middle.

Is that RUST on that officer's legs? Or DO goose bumps tan??? (It IS Vancouver, isn't it?)

I like the grain effect, it does give the feel of a newspaper. The picture itself isn't very interesting though. Could you have gone with a different angle? I know you are trying to show the beach and ATV together but readers trust headlines(sometimes). It may not have been necessary to show the beach as much. I think an angle looking up from the left front tire with the police officer looking down would have been cool. It would make him look more authoritive. Just a thought. I really like the title, one of the better ones of the challenge. Good work and good luck in the challenge:)

Definately a 'newspaper' photo... I assume you know the officers in the shot? Or did you pretend to be from the local paper? :-).

I can tell you purposely desaturated the pic and added noise for a "newspaper
effect..... I like it. Composition with much of the beach in view works well with the title.

Good picture and good subject. I'm gonna assume the grain is purposeful to give it a "paper" feel. I like the composition. I might try cropping the top down some, and maybe just a wee bit off the left, but not enough to lose the "thirds".

A bit too grainy and there's too much space - I think it would look better with either a bit of top or left side cropped out. This is an excellent newspaper-ish photograph. Kudos!

I think it would have worked better if you had them looking like they were patroling the beach and not looking at you. Its a good picture though.

noisy picture

Grainy background ,B/W lack of contrast and DOF open wide 4.

too much empty space

Whoa, tons of noise. Should've used Neat Image to clean it up.

Very nice. The photo has relevence to the moment and it is also interesting as a portrait of a particular environment. I like the generous cropping and square format. I like the haze in the background. This is only the second photo I've looked at in this challenge. It was a nice treat.

Yes, I would definitely see this in a newspaper. I also think that the amount of grain fits with the "newspaper" theme. The focus could be better though, nice composition...9

Good luck...

I image that you put the grain in to make this look more like it came from a newspaper, somehow it misses that end and looks more like a grainy photo at least to me.

In my top 5 It is very reminicient of a Newspaper shot. Headline is good , the grain... I dunno if you added but most modern day news photos are not grainy.
I gave it a 9

Good photo, Good headline. (Image looks kind of grainy, too high ISO?)

Wow, there is so much noise in this picture. 4
