I just wanted to comment on this since I rated it lower than I might have if it hadn't been in this category. I do like the macro image but I don't think it would find its way into a newspaper so I downgraded the rating based on not fitting in the category. The image itself is okay. I'd like to see a point of interest to focus on to improve the image itself. Perhaps if there were more contrast in the various elements it might catch my eye more. Still I like the color and the shape of the crack.

Looks like rock instead of metal. Is that the true colors of the metal?

This looks like rock and not metal causing me some confusion. Perhaps a wide shot would let us understand what is fatigued and where/why?

As an art picture, I like. But no so good for a paper. Photos that go into papers
should tell a story.
