We put cracked corn out in the backyard during the winter to feed the deer. I had just gotten home Thursday morning and saw these three at the edge of the yard waiting for me to go inside. I decided to sit on the back porch and watch them through the glass door, camera in hand just in case they were brave. They finally ventured in to eat, and just a few minutes later these big turkeys barged in (one of them actually flew in!) and chased the deer away! The turkeys stayed for an hour and ate all the corn!

The way I see it, the quote that this challenge is based on could be taken in two ways: 1. Things that matter" or things that literally count, eg an abacus etc. I don't really understand how your image fits either interpretation.

Regarding the image itself, I find it to be very dark, with image quality issues, particularly through the trees. Must have been a sight to see though - turkeys chasing deer :)

Your subjects blend in to the background all too well, which is a function of their coloring. Still, I would try to process enough difference to help them stand out. I'm thinking adding a bit more red to the shadows would help.
