 The skate was suspended from a fishing line that was cloned out in PP. Set camera on bulb with rear synch flash. I locked the shutter release in darkness with a red filter attached to the lens. Then I walked around the camera and strobes trying not to knock anything over. Waved a long grill lighter under heal for the red flame. Went back to the camera and removed the red filter. Back to skate and walked away from the camera drawing a large S-shape on floor with the lighter. Back to the skate and set small wad of paper on fire just behind skate. Back to camera to unlock shutter release and the 3 strobes fired. Many, many takes with different setups and the most exercise I've gotten from an indoor photography shot. It was a great learning experience for me. Thanks for all the comments.

Need a bit more light on the skate but this is still prety cool. I'll be interested in seeing how this was done.

Really creative photo. Would like to see the roller blade just a bit brighter to contrast the background more. This would be interesting on a sheet of black plastic, make sure you have your fire extinguisher !!!

Well though out and lots of preparation to pull this off I'm sure. If there was a leg in the boot it might have been even better.
