Lighting: is too dark on the left and hot on the left, both loosing detail; but the catchlights really add the the expression.
Pose: The pose is great

| I think I'd make a mask for the far background and blur the heck out of it (or fill with a gradient) so this would look more like a studio shot than a candid portrait. Great pose/expression. |

| Contagious and cute smile and unorthodox pose make this a compelling photo for me. Could use a bit more detail in the shadows and a little more blur of the background too. |

| IMHO, this would be an INCREDIBLE portrait had there been a backdrop behind her. as it is its still a great shot of an obviously very happy, pretty little girl. |

| If the idea of taking a portrait is to capture a little of the model's personality, you hammered this. Colors, expression, context are all excellent. A slightly sharper focus would have gotten a 9 or 10. As is, 8 and a recomendation to save this picture for a long time to enjoy. |

Lovely young lady in a very cute pose! Great use of catch light to get the twinkle in her eye. Nice use of creative lighting to giver her face depth. Two things that would take this from a good shot to a great shot, there's a little bit of clutter in the background. A simple cloth hung behind or a slightly different angle takes care of that. Also, the left side of the shot is a tad too dark at the top. I would try a simple reflector (spelled white poster board) to bounce back just a touch of light onto the headphones!

| Outstanding setting, lighting and DOF and the expression looks so natural. Maybe the lines in the background are a bit awkward but this should be top three. |
