So here it is 3/16/10 and this may well be my lowest scoring image ever on DPC. Maybe if I had edited this to be a bright red & white image and put an explanatory title on it about being a branch of electricity or something, this may have scored higher with the voters here but, since this was taken in a former mental institution, and I wanted to portray this former life, I presented the image this way. I'm thinking of doing a series of B/W images at this institution before it is demolished....but I won't be entering them here at DPC! :-)

Jeez, I'm gobsmacked that people are having such a hard time seeing the connection to the topic. Seeing this pipe covering the electrical wires and ending in the fire alarm, "a branch of electricity" instantly popped into my mind - I guess not many people have worked on home construction projects besides me!!! :-)

I saw the connection, and I thought it was a great idea! Loved the black and white too. My only quibble was that I felt you should have aligned it so that the box and pipe were straight up and were parallel to the side of the frame. Keep up the good work!

A branch of electricity makes sense to me Carole, but then I worked in a hardware store many years ago and that makes me more familiar with the concept than some others? At any rate, considering this was in a former mental institution I think you did a great job with your treatment here and am sorry more people couldn't wrap their heads around the idea- it's a great shot. Your thoughts for a B&W series of this institution sounds like a fine project you should definitely follow through on.

I cant see a tree branch so I'm thinking maybe this is called a branch of something else......
Anyway I think its too far out side the box to score well.
Sorry

I think this photo really needed a title. I'm having a hard time relating it with the challenge.

I don't understand this image's relevance to the theme... but I love it none-the-less, and I'm going to assume there's a "branch" connection and ignore my ignorance. This is a great photo... wonderfully composed... makes me think, and I like that... but, I think too many voters will, like me wonder what the connection to the theme is, but unlike me, they masses will vote as if it's a DNMC. Some consolation if they do... I'll be giving this a MUAIMHO... that is IF the voters don't give this the love it deserves.

I get the fit to the challenge here and it is very unique and creative. I do think the scene is very plain and ordinary, something seen all the time. What could have possibly jazzed this up is showing the pop of red from the box.
