Interesting pose and take on the subject. The lighting is a bit harsh on the left and not being able to see her eyes is kind of disappointing. A 5

Lighting: A reflector is needed to bounce light onto the left side of the face, and it really needed to have been toned down as there are hot spots in the hair and on the nose.
Pose: The pose is not very expressive. The DOF is too shallow as the right shoulder is OOF.
Background: Works fine.

THis shot makes me think of Chrissy Hines of the Pretenders. Very eighties feel to it. Love the matching lolipop/lipstick. I do think that your lighting is a little harsh and takes away from the shot some though.

Looks a little bright on my monitor ... would be a great "concert" shot if that was a microphone instead of a lollipop.

Lighting is too harsh and concentrated in certain areas and missing in others, such as the side of her head and causing ugly shadows on her face. Especially concentrated on her bangs over her eyes causing a blown out area so that, along with her bangs, you can't see her eyes, which I think greatly detracts from the impact of this image. Had the lighting been implemented better I think I would have liked the colors a lot better too, which appear to be brown clothing contrasting with your model's beautiful red hair, lipstick and lollipop. I also think the lolli prop detracts from your model's provacative and sexy look and is confused with your model's apparent sophistication. Maybe an outstretched open palm as if blowing a kiss would have been better? Just my opinion and hope you don't take my comments negatively, as they were not meant to be.

This is a nice head shot. For a portrait I think you need to show the eyes--open the shades on the window to the soul, if you will.

The light coming down on her face is a bit harsh...creates a glow on her hair. Also, there is a wisp of hair in her bangs that covers the iris of her right eye, which causes her eye too look completly white and unnatural. Pose is cute, but the pop casts a big shadow on the left side of her face. The sleeve covering her hand is a distraction to me. The highlight on the tip of her nose creates a glow that almost causes that part of her nose to disappear. With a bit of a lighting adjustment, this could be a very nice portrait. :o)

Cool idea, with nice lighting, but showing the eyes might strengthen the image overall.

i really like this...wish i could give you some constructive criticism, but i guess i dont know enough about the technicalities of portraiture cuz i cant really find anything wrong here. maybe you could help others by commenting on their portrait shots so they (me) could gorw up to shoot just like you lol!

It seems like the WB if off a little bit. No big deal though.

I'm not sure what to say ... I can't figure this one out. Her eyes are closed. She's hiding behind her hair and blowing on a lolly pop. Maybe I'm looking too deep, but I don't get it.

The idea is great - but model looks to be just holding or blowing on the lolipop. Black background really makes the hair color stand out. My biggest problem with it though is that fact that the eyes are so hidden.

Glare from her hair is a bit distracting.

the lighting seems so harsh to me, yet I do like everything else about it.....

Not realy my taste, I can't see the face because of the hair, and because of that her nose sticks out, So when I look at this picture I see the nose first.
The shadows and almost overexposed highlights disturb it a bit.
That's only MY opinion.

Nice idea, but lighting is way too harsh for a black backdrop. If you were going for a high key shot you might have wanted to use a white background. There also seems to be some sort of weird smudge/reflection on top of her head. It could have easily been edited out.

Open your eyes...
Closed eyes, no emotion, no interest.
Good lighting effect.

I'm not crazy about the lighting of coloration but the composition is good, and her eyes are interesting...where is she looking?

Good idea and interesting dramatic lighting, but the hair obscures her eyes so much that you can just barely tell they are open. If you could actually see her pupils through the hair, this would be a great photo.

This is disturbing rather than mysterious or sexy. The reason for this is all we can see are the white of her right eye which makes it appear hollow, blank, and spooky rather than seductive. The lighting is good. The pose is kind of unnatural--it looks like she is kissing the Tootsie pop.

She looks like Uma Thurman. Possibly a bit overexposed, or overdjusted, depending. Also there's some sort of distracting smudge above her head, unless her hair is on fire.
