Well we were off shooting at a place where they have Texas Longhorns and of course an assortment of horses. This was a 17hh TB mare, in foal with her first by the looks of it. She came over to say hello and put her head over the fence for us. And while shooting her I noticed a boot hanging up there at the top of a post. So I included her looking cryptic and the boot in the same shot just for fun.

Greetings from the Critique Club

Oh, Snaffles, we meet again! And what a fun entry you have in the Free Study. It is easy to see why you would select it to put in the Challenge.

Some of your comments noted that the sky was a bit bland, and I played with your image just a little using Shadows & Highlights. Now that's a very useful tool for situations such as this, and I found it put a bit more light into that clever horse's neck and deepened the blues dramatically. Just a thought, of course.

Your "V" with the fence poles and the clever boot at the right top worked quite well but could have stood a bit more color. Nevertheless, this, as Melethia says, is cute and quirky and I'm glad to have seen it again.

I can understand the POV...however, the time of day really worked against you with very strong/harsh sunlight. The POV does create a fun, humorous feel with the horse's head appearing to be HUGE in comparison to his skinny little neck. :-) Good luck in the challenge.

Pole a bit overexposed but nice angle you have here. Cute take

my only quibble with this is the bars coming out of her nose.
