I will say I'm relieved to learn that this challenge entry was staged. But it's so well done, it's still disturbing to think how many times a day it's all too real to so many women!
A powerful and appropriate way to reach beyond the "pretty picture" syndrome. You've presented a powerful portrait with beautiful depth. I hope you might be able to make good use of it since it conveys a message that needs so much to be heard. |

Okay, lets just say this photo really got trashed... as I was afraid of.
Thanks to all of you who judged it as a photograph and didn't give it 1 for being something you aren't amused seeing.
No, it's not real... just makeup |

Please tell me its staged. Vey realistic and the shot is extraordinary yet it unnerves me (and others I am sure). You cant help looking at a car wreck. Why such a tight crop on top? The subject moves me to a 7 |

I don't get how the title goes with the picture. Did someone beat her up because the TV broke? |

If this is real, it is VERY disturbing. Normally I wouldn't vote on such an intense subject like this but it is well done. You can see the pain in her eyes. OK, I need to move on. Great shot. 10 |

Unfortunately, abuse is not uncommon. To someone who hasn't seen it, it may seem extraordinary that someone would hurt a person they claim to love, but it happens all the time. You have created a moving image of the situation. |

And what is Extraordinary about abuse? I would have given a zero, but there is some technical ability evident. Should be disqualified from this Challenge. |

This is a powerful subject to tackle for what is a 'hobby' environment, and sadly this is not out of the ordinary, or uncommon. Full marks for guts on this one though.
I am hoping very much that this was staged. |

Well, this just doesn't say "extraordinary" too me. Although I find the message somewhat distasteful, I won't vote it low on that basis. I certainly hope this was just a good makeup job. |

Very disturbing image. Well captured. Well exposed. Colors make the emotional statement. Eyes convey the helpless disappointment. I sincerely hope this was a cooked up portrait and not real life domestic violence. |

I hope that's not real, or if it is, that you got a waiver to run this image. An unpleasantly ordinary occurence, which should be extraordinary. |

When I see a picture like this, I don't know how to respond, I'm hoping this is a setup shot. If it is not, please PM me. If it is a setup, I don't quite see how it fits the challenge. |

An incredibly powerful and emotional image. A strong statement about the horrors of humanity and the atrocities we inflict upon each other. I gave this 10 not just for the obvious photographic quality and for meeting the challenge but also for the sheer impact. It just simply stopped me cold. |
