I didn't vote, but I did do a double take on this because it was so different. I kind of like the uneasiness in the darkness in the foreground, with just enough detail to see that it is a city. Then, it's topped off with those clouds, which look like a chemistry processing error from the film and fluids days of photography. Cool stuff. |

I looked it up too! Glad to see that this got the posthumous blue. Well deserved. |

I'd take the average commenter core if I were you! A way under-appreciated image; one of those rare photos on DPC that means something more than a pretty picture.

Great one. This is taking the notion of black and white landscape and stretching it to the fullest. |

You get my Posthumous Blue Ribbon for this dreamy nightmarish vision.

Amazing. Bleak apocalyptic landscape. Love it. In my top ten of the challenge. 10 |

Too much black. Very "cluttered". More grays in the foreground would have helped. |

Someone's gunning for a posthumous ribbon! Because I had to use the dictionary, you get the Alternative Blue... because this is like the grunge rock of the challenge. And once it catches on, eveyone will want to be like it and you will move on to more clasical photography because you are ahead of the times! |

The extreme contrast and lack of detail remove some of the interest in this image. Overall, it looks somewhat abstract, and that does fit your theme as I interpret it. |

I feel like your "aphotic" was reached by post processing not because the area is a naturally dark place. On its own merits without the title I would still feel like this was way over processed. |

personally I don't see the city part of this...I do see a ton of noise in the clouds although |

Great choice - bet it gets slammed, but the title helps make sense of what you're trying to convey. |

Love the processing - hope you'll share in your notes. I'd have cropped off about an inch on either end. |
