I find myself wishing for a main subject, or even a main geometric theme, as a hook to hold interest. Wonder if the color version would have made it easier to appreciate. Perhaps positioning to make the edge of the field serve as a diagonal line would add strength to the composition.

There is a lot of nice texture in the trees but overall there isn't anything that really pulls my eye and draws me into this picture.

This image is very busy. My eye doesn't really know where to look there is so much going on. I'm not really sure how you could improve this one. Some dramitic clouds would have given this more kick. Or something in the forground to draw the veiwer's attention. Good luck :)

You did good with the black and white conversion. You also have many good textures shown with the leaves. There is little to be desired compositionally and that is where you would add the most interest. A very good exposure of the whole scene in the foreground leaves the sky over exposed and plain white. I would have framed it out of the picture and left very little in if you wanted the tree tops shown.
