This is wonderful! I really like these silhouette photographs. This photo really invokes the sense of a young boy conquering a fear or overcoming a challenge. Compositionally, you did a wonderful job. I find myself staring at the background, wondering what it would look like if you had taken a couple of steps to the right and eliminated the tree--having the boy just against the sky? But then perhaps you would not have the perfect halo of light that surrounds him. The sky is just gorgeous, a perfect blend of colors and light.
Technically the shot is great, if not just a teeny bit out of focus on the boy--maybe it is just my eyes but it seems to get a little softer around his torso. This doesnt detract from the overall impact of the photo, tho. Post processing looks great, love the levels on the sky. I dont think you could have sharpened anymore without losing quality around the edges of the rock and stick. Overall, wonderful job! |

This is a wonderful photo. It's one of my favourites this week. I love the backlighting and the compositon is awesome. The boy is positioned excatly with the white spot of the sun/clouds in the background which immediatly leads your eyes to the head and from there via the arm to the thing he holds (a piece of wood?). I just didn't get what his dream could be, but that doesn't matter so much because the photo in itself is so good ;-) Great job! -stephan |

A good set piece. Photo journalism is typically shot "on the fly"... but good. |

I really love this shot. I love the silouhette. The sky is so disturbing, it looks like he is causing the clouds to swirl around by his actions. Awesome. |

While a great quality of execution image, this photograph gives me a sence of uneasiness. I belive it is due to the fact, that I am unable to tell wether, it is a real boy, or a statue ( I am more inclined to believe the second). Nevertheless, a very well seen and composed shot. Congratulations! |

Very nice, but is it photojournalism? I'm looking for something that depicts an event. |

I love this photo, the colours of the sky and the silhouette are both great. I dont really think this is strictly photojournalism though, I wonder if a different concept and title would help. Even so, the picture is a favourite already! |

My only criticism to an otherwise top-rate photo is its overexposure. The area behind the silhouette is just too bright. Nonetheless, a great capture! |
