CRITIQUE CLUB CRITIQUE
by Karmat

Composition -- I think the composition of this picture is very strong. It is balanced and fills the frame nicely. The choice of subject was well done, as well. I like the angle or perspective on this. It is much stronger this way than straight on. A very effective use of simplicity.

Technique -- You have done a remarkable job at not blowing the whites out. Anytime I try to do such, I end up with these really bright patches that blind my viewers! The focus is good in that the viewer can read all fo the words on the cards, though there are a couple of spots that are slightly fuzzy (that may be my monitor though). It is a very clean and crisp picture. Good use of contrasting colors and diagonal lines. The only suggestion I can make would be to try to shoot it with absolutely NO shadow, or a shadow completely around the cards, as if they were suspended or floating.

Overall Effect -- I like the simplicity of this shot. you have done well at meeeting the challenge in an effective and creative way. Good work.

Is it the lighting that erases some of the edges on the cards? I don't really think it's a bad thing though. Interesting for sure. Definately blue. Your focus and clarity are great. a nice shot. Good luck in the challenge.

Good idea. Great game. Good property. But the focus needs to be clear. Park Place is not that in focus. I hate to nit pic. But otherwise good shot. PTL 6

A very good effort in taking a shot that does not follow the theme completely but yet tries to invoke the viewer mind that theme lies in the shot somewhere. And we clearly see that in the title bars of these monopoly cards. It's been years since I've played that game, so I cannot give you a judgement on the concept of shot, but in terms of technicality and composition, it is very good. The DOF is only a fraction off, but the viewer can still read the prints. However, shouldn't all the blue cards be present in this shot if we were to monopolize the game? Overall 8.

Here again a good shot where less is MORE. Fantastic idea, creative as can be. Love it. Justine.

i like the monopoly cards...just wish the background was different because the white is so stark and sort of washes right into the cards. good fun subject though.

I like this idea very much. The only thing that takes away from the shot for me is that the cards fade into the background. But you could have intended it so I will not take away for it. Good focus and nice placement.
