This is a very special image to me - it's my sister and her new baby, Cate. I'm an Aunty for the first time!

I'm sorry to say that this wasn't shot specifically for the challenge - it was a prearranged shoot that just happened to coincide (lucky me!)

I thought this image would suffer from the blown highlight on her sleeve, but at 7.0942 with just over 1/2 an hour to go till rollover it seems that the strengths of the shot were enough to overcome that.

Processing was minimal. Slight cloning of freckles and a bit of gaussian blur to smooth skin tone, but the image is so soft it didn't need much. Tried to do a separate RAW conversion to pull back the blown sleeve, but it was hopeless, so I didn't bother.

It is the best one of the bunch. I thought to myself that it was better than a 7 and clicked my true feeling with 5 seconds left! I'll calculate with the excel program tomorrow !

I moved my vote from an 7 to a 10 with 5 seconds left....can someone calculate if that pushed it over the top?

Amazing what a fraction of an inch can do...If this had been cropped about 1/4 inch tighter on the bottom it would have been a disaster. If you notice, you can see the "baby fat" lines right above the border...with a hint of the rest of the leg touching the border..

...if that hint of the rest of the legs..and up towards the hips would had been cut off, it would have looked as though the mother was holding two "amputated" legs....this would have scored a 5 IMO....

....however, as it is, I say a 7.

I'm sure you're saying..."what the hell is this guy talking about" !!!
