a clay skull i made in 1992.

i thought i would push the theme to a higher level...

canon 75-300mm f:4-5.6 III - handheld - uncropped - rotated 90 deg.

curves, BW conversion - curves - unsharp mask - overlayed a grey blue layer at low opacity.

cropped a bit tight on the top. I think the entire eye hole should be seen

Great lighting here. thats your strong point. there is some distracting grain in the eye socket, and the the cheek is a bit digital looking, but the black contrast is nice. They say that where the darkest part of a photo or painting meets the lightest spot is often the focal point regardless of composition- if thats the case you have 3 focal points, nose, teeth, extreme left frame near bridge of eye. but my eye is drawn to the teeth in the front.
I think you did a great job here and I like the fact that the focus is stronger on th e left that in the center. lastly, I hope you paid the model for this shot with a "get out of hell free card."

I know one should move in close to the subject but this is a bit too close. The human skull has many interesting contours and planes but we aren't seeing much of that due to the claustrophobic cropping.
