 Don't let them fool you with CBS saying 87,000 and NYTimes saying maybe 500,000. There were at least 500,000 people there and probably over 750k. Lookup the aerial photos - the entire Mall was full, the field to the left was full, the field to the right and under the trees was completley full (you had an 15"x15" space to live in), and about 2/3rds of the field leading up to the Washington Monument was full.

It was just an amazing day. Took this right before the event started and it's one of my favorites.

Definitely has the right stuff, nice balance with the flag and the Lincoln memorial. Just wish your settings had made it a little contrastier....

Would be nicer to have a good moment of people shouting or cheering. While this is nice, the image of the flag isn't nearly as interesting as the image of real emotion on somebody's face.

nice effort. i think a shot without the tree would have been better, though. and maybe to have held the camera up even higher.
