Nice shot. Though I don't doubt a flash was used, it appears to me that the fill flash effect was increased in post-processing.

Very nice balance of the flash light against the ambient light. I really enjoy the composition chosen for this photo. I do think if he were wearing khakis or similar style pants that it would have improved the photo (the color of the jeans is just really sticking out at me).
