It is a billboard in Times Square. The images were bouncing around on two opposing screens and I kept shooting - I liked her arm and the way it interacts with the edge of the display up in the air. Is this really taking a picture of a photograph? I don't think so, but nobody asked me. The only thing I was asked to do was submit the original.
Next day - I think I understand now: The reason for the DQ was not that I took a photo of a billboard but that it wasn't recognizable as a billboard and so there was question of my intent. If I had presented it in such a way that there was no question that I took a picture of someone else's art, then it would have passed :)
Disqualification Details
You may include existing images or artwork as part of your composition as long as the entry does not appear to consist entirely of a pre-existing photograph in order to circumvent date or editing rules or fool the voters into thinking you actually captured the original photograph.

I definitely enjoyed your interpretation of the challenge. Hard to believe how long it took to resolve the validation. I doubt many people were fooled, as the art rule requires, as it's cleary a screen. Sorry for the DQ Penny!

Penny, this is so very seriously cool. This could easily be on a gallery wall.

wonder if people saw the triangles :( Probably the screen look that threw them off. Hope it got validated lol

It's a different take on the theme but it leaves me feeling I'm missing something - possibly I'm just too literal

I LOVE this!!!! I don't know what you did or how you did it, but it's just so avant guard and lovely. I'm thinking a screen of some sort, but the split-looking image is a mystery.
