I was looking at quite a few of my candidate shots for this challenge the night before the submission deadline. Several stood out to me as "interesting" and good enough to submit, but I wanted more time to think about my choices. As I was falling asleep thinking about several of the images, I realized that this one not only has the literal reflection of the street, but that the manequin is also a figurative reflection of the human form, which, by being on display in a clothing store window, also reflects our own desires for perfection and beauty.
I knew then, that all of my other candidates fell short in representing this challenge in meaning, even if some might be more visually appealing and might have the potential to get a better score. I'll still share those in my portfolio after voting has ended for this challenge.
I feel the title is quite a bit weak for this picture, but I'm not expecting most viewers to see what I see, so I'm trying to point it out. I would have preferred a more "creative" title. Some that I was working on:
"longing to be" (human/outside/both/neither? you decide)
"layers deep" (subtler version of the current title)
