 I feel a bit of a fraud submitting this image given that I tend to favour shots that are a little less conventional. I'll excuse myself by saying this was a consequence of a short trip to South Africa whilst being armed with my new 100-400mm lens.

Woah! Despite the bird being in shade, the lighting and the exposure is just magnificent. The Protea is also well exposed and saturated. Everything is sharp where it should be. Mooi!

Lovely sharpness! Beautiful details! I'd have cropped some more off the right to center up the flower a bit more and to give the bird more room in front than in in back. (not voting)

Ongelooflik mooi. This is absolutely beautiful. Such amazing detail and color and perfect dof. One of the nicest bird images I have seen for a long time. My favorite for a ribbon. 10
