Learning to light, lighting to learn... Could-a lit that top layer, didn't have the guts! More evidence of my background as a science teacher! :)

I always thought this was very "unappreciated" entry - very well done!

Thank you all for the comments, once again items were brought to my attention which I wouldn't Have considered otherwise.

Sadly, due to a perfect storm of interruptions I had very little time to post process, but the wallpaper was just removed last week and the room was newly painted, and I didn't even notice the imperfections. My downfall was the use of the brightest light I own, which happened to be a halogen shop light, thus the yellow cast that I did not correct for. I am an admitted amature, and need to invest in some proper lighting equipment, but I am here to learn, and continue to do just that.

This was an experiment I used to do with my kids while studying density, for those interested the layers consist of honey, colored karo corn syrup, Dawn dishwashing detergent, colored water, and olive oil. I was going to add colored alcohol and lamp oil, and even try to light it, but ran out of time!

Thanks again for the support and constructive criticism, it helps me grow.

Nice change of pace from wine glasses.

very colorful and catching. I would use a seemless background though. The dimples in the wallboard at the top of the image are a bit distracting. They could also be spot edited out in post processing.

I would really like to see this with a crisp, WHITE background.

Great idea for the challenge. Good choice on the container and back lighting as well. However, I think it would have been even nicer if the back lighting was brighter such that it turned to wait (seeing the wall details isn't appealing here).

I like your choice of bottles. And your subtle hint. :)

I think you should have chosen a better background for this. Think of the whole pic and not only the layers

Ok, excellent shot, but bonus points for the geeky use of varying density liquids to acheive your layers. :)

Very cool, a black or darker background might have really made this pop more.

Clever, very nicely done. I'd have taken advantage of the advanced editing to smooth out the background and get rid of the distracting imperfections.
