This is my very first homemade bread loaf on my new cooking stone. I really need to clean my oven. I dropped a cookie dough ball on the window a couple nights before I made this bread, and I clearly (or not so clearly) forgot to clean the cookie off the window.

Finished loaf.

A fascinating, warm and soft image. Crisp focus and soft edges combine to make this draw us in. You can almost smell it.

Don't worry about the dirty oven door window. I think it adds good texture to the image. Nice.

I have no idea why I find this so friendly and gently funny.

for insincere wordplay...
for unsated hunger and other vague cruelties...

I'm putting you in my Posthumous Art Gallery.

i cant tell if you shot thru a screen or used an overlay (which would be against the rules) but either way, it does not help the shot

That looks like it will be good. I'm not sure about the black and white here. I really find myself wanting to see this in color.

I'm going through the entries, stopping at those images I feel have had the benefit of an unconventional eye and dwelling a little longer to try to see and appreciate what you saw. This is one of those images.

Positives: This is a grower! Bumped it a couple of times now. The 'through mesh' appearance is effective and gives a slightly furtive look that I am always fond of. Despite the low contrast, I like how the crusty texture of the bread is still well communicated. I also like the restraint in relation to the light here. I'm a fan of the vignette too.

Critical stuff: I think there is only so far you can go with an image like this - in the end, you can only wring out some much interest.

Overall: A shot that I have come to like after a few viewings - perhaps a problem when there are as many images as there are in a FS to get through.

If Mom wouldn't catch you, maybe open the oven door for just a sec?

Had to really stare at this to see what I was looking at. Different subject matter, but interesting none the less.
