I saw the egret on the rock and of course went to shoot it. Promptly, a group of tourists positioned themselves where you see them. When shooting, I always figure, go with what's in front of your lens - so they got included for a strange juxtaposition in the image.

A good choice and a good rule of thumb. I agree with you, I think the family is what brings a lot of interest to the shot. Otherwise, it would just be another picture of a bird.

What a comical and happenstance type image. :)

That bird kind of makes me chuckle.

This is excellent Alicia - for some reason I always imagined these birds to be a lot larger. Shame about the tourists. You must have been fairly close to him and yet he seem focused on finding that elusive fish. Hope the little boy in red didn't scare him off.

Lots of elements to this photo, i like the ring around the Egret on the rock.

Great juxtaposition. Now if you squat down a bit, risking wet knees and then move to your right you can get them facing each other.

Heh! That's funny! This is a beautiful shot of the egret though, so I'd clone them out!

Great candid! Neat reflection of the tourists in the receding wave.
