Challenge: 100 Years Old II (Advanced Editing VII*)
Camera: Samsung ES10
Location: Pretoria, South Africa
Date: Jan 12, 2011
Aperture: f/3.7
ISO: 80
Shutter: 1/180s
Galleries: Astrophotography
Date Uploaded: Jan 14, 2011

Took this while it was still a bit light. Editing was a bit of curves and color correction and USM for just that little bit of extra sharpness.

The camera has a small lens, so the light projected from the eyepiece of my telescope fills the lens of the camera, and I am able to take photos like this.

I suppose everything in the universe is the same age, since energy can neither be created nor destroyed and mass and energy are exchangeable. I guess, then, that the moon will be suitable (and besides, after I had the idea to take the moon, I saw 2 moon shots in the previous 100YO challenge).

Thanks for the comments!

I'm glad to have scored so high! It's a bit higher than I expected.

For those who thought it doesn't really fit the challenge, the challenge says something that is at least 100 years old. :-) I guess 4.53 billion years old is at least 100 years old.

About the title, it's just a bit of fun rather than a boring title like "Wrinkles of age" or something. Imagine you're looking through a telescope and you tell someone something about a crater - there are so many it's just impossible to point one out!

Which crater is only 100 years old? Good photo, but there's not much which is 100 years old. While you are right the entire moon is more than 100 years old, the moon is approximately 4.5 billion years old.

Phenomenal astrophotography. Did you use a telescope for this shot. Incredible detail, although a bit of a stretch for the challenge.

Nice shot with great clarity. I actually think the title lets it down a bit. Of course, I don't vote on the title...
