It's interesting you would mention that, actually!
I had struggled with that aspect of this shot for quite a while before submitting it. In the first version I submitted, I did indeed straighten the horizon properly. But the way the wave curves, it actually made it feel unbalanced and tilted, oddly enough. The more I looked at it with a perfectly straight horizon, the more it bothered me that it appeared to be off.
I rotated it just a couple degrees, and it felt more balanced to me. Just another weird attribute of this shot, I guess. I was curious to see if anyone else would comment on that, and was surprised no one had said anything about it during voting.

Amazing optical illusion -- like the cruise ship is riding the wave. |

Back to comment... Wow! It's like it's sitting on the edge of that great wave and could keel over at any moment. This could be on the cover of a dvd for a disaster movie! |

You should show this to the cruise lines. |

Now that is a way to work force perspective! The capture really gives off the illusion that the huge cruise ship is not far from the ridge line of the crashing wave. The proximity to the crashing wave projects the idea of rough sailing ahead...mayhap crashing on shore. Great details and lovely colors in this shot. |
