One in series of images I am making of objects found in an office.
Knurled knob about 7 mm diameter that stretches a spring to feed staples evenly in an old fashioned El Casco stapler from Spain, a model which has been awarded prizes for stylish design. Title also because of colors, textures, shapes, light, shadow, line, contrast, and proportion of the pieces contributing to the composition.
Surprising amount of fussing required to clean away dust and set up lighting. This is looking down from the top at the rear of the stapler. Background lit with doubled blue gel, knob lit with ungelled light on camera right with white business card reflector on left, and another business card on the right to prevent white light from diluting blue background light. Six original raw captures at slightly different focus depths stacked using Zerene Stacker at default settings. Some tweaking in CS5.

I can't help but think of Strunk & White. However, this is clearly not a book, and looks more like a heating element on a burner of some kind, but I'm not so sure |

This is a precision adjuster, for what, I don't know. I like the steam-punk feel, the clean mechanism, sharp focus and blue back light - it ties the image together nicely - 8 |
