Jacko, I like this very much, as I've already stated during voting. The composition is a good and works well as an abstract. The way the spaghetti separates near the center, leaving some dark space adds depth to the image. As you look down you see the gradations of color fading into darkness, giving it dimension. I've worked a lot with pasta, both as a chef and photographer and can really appreciate it.
Filling the entire frame with the pasta was a good idea. It has much more impact than if you'd included some background. The pattern is sufficient and needs no bg info. Any bg would have been a distraction.
Lighting, focus, exposure, perspective, all work well. DOF is right on. Coloring seems to be good.
There is noting I'd change here. I think it's a terrific image. It would be nice hanging in a kitchen. Good job!

Very interesting... not really a subject I would ever think of shooting. Very nice macro, as I assume those aren't gigantic spaghetti sticks! Hehehe... there is some loss of color and clarity at the corners, this can be due to the lens that makes up your lens. To correct this, you have to shoot a subject that you can crop. Just a suggestion though. Pretty good lighting, I love this pic! -7 |

Well taken photo. Kinda has a optical illusion to it with the ends jumping out at you. 8 Swash |

I did this a couple of weeks ago with pens but it was a disaster. But yours is better - far better. Simple and interesting. Focus and light OK. My shot ended at 4.476 and I hope you are doing better. |

I like the patterns you created, but the colours aren't very appealing to me, and the composition seems a bit flat. Technically very good, but not the kind of abstract that excites me. |

Very creative idea this! I'm curious as to how you lit this, since the four corners of the shot are very yellowed, yet the centre has dark depths. |

Interesting abstract. I think the pattern is ok, and the angle and framign/cropping is good too. I like how you have filled the entire photo with the subject. THe lighting kind of freaks out in all 4 corners, but nothing serious. I'm not generally too fond of abstracts (even my own), so while it's not really my thing, it is very nicely technically done. Maybe some added color some how? Good luck in the challenge. |

As much as I do like this photo, there does not seem to be a specific focus point. My eye tends to wanderback and forth looking for the place to stop. This would do well in one of those "what is it" quizzes. |

Wow! I love this photo! My eye is searching for patterns in this randomness, just like when looking at clouds! This could almost be a sea anemone or microscopic villi or something. So cool! |

I like artsy shots. I wouldn't have thought that spaghetti could be an interesting subject. Good use of light so as to no oversaturate or have to dark in between the noodles. |

Interesting composition, I like the colours and the black making the depth of the image visually incrediible. I do think, this could have worked better if cropped to a squar image. |

The way the image is lost in the corners bothers me little (maybe an almost-square crop would help), but I like the overall idea and execution -- good use of mundane subject. |

I keep looking at this and something about it bothers me. Maybe not quite sharp enough or not quite enough light. It just doesn't feel right. DPz |

Great shot -- totally unexpected and interesting. I wonder what lighting it from the bottom would have done -- would the darker patches in the middle have been lighter? |

Great focus, good lighting. I really like this shot a lot. I like the natural patterns that are formed and how you can see the slight variations in the height of the spaghetti. |

Nice. Love the idea. Good color, focus and composition. The light is good, maybe it could of used a bit more for my eye. Well done, it's a winner. |
