Thanks for the wonderful comments. I'm glad you liked it.
Yes it looks a bit bending inwards. Lens was at 16mm. The back portion of the buildings (actually front, coz that's where the main entrances are) are solid rectangles with perfect right angles.
This view is from the Fullerton bridge. This side of the buildings features curves, wide base, narrow top, adding to the illusion that the buildings are curving inwards.
The building is called The Marina Bay Sands (of the Las Vegas Sands) integrated resort, hotel and casino. A first class luxury venue in Singapore. The structures at the base are a high-end shopping mall, food courts, etc. There are world-class conventions halls inside somewhere, too. The boat-shaped structure on top is called the Sky Park, open to the public. A private section features a 150-meter swimming pool, exclusive for guests. I haven't had a shot of the pool yet (roughly $400 per night to be a guest), but they say it's designed to blend well with the horizon, they call it The Infinity Pool. The egg-shaped structure (yes, it looks like a broken egg shell, no offense to the designers who say it's supposed to be a lotus) is called the ArtScience Museum. More details of the hotel at //en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Marina_Bay_Sands. The "pier" in front is actually called the Merlion Park. Merlion is the figure spitting water, which in itself contains a whole lot more of stories.
Singapore is so small, it's hard to take a photo of a single tourist spot in one frame. Usually, two or more attractions are captured in one shot such as this. Had I took a landscape shot, and a little more to the left, I would have included The Helix Bridge, The Singapore Flyer, the Floating Plattform, and a portion of the F1 night race track.
Super cool, we are probably going back there this year. It's so super clean, every country should take a good look at how the Singaporeans live, and the world would be a better place.
The towers look like they are staggering under their burden, lol. The white structure looks very futuristic - or alien - architecture is evolving all the time. I love the clouds and colour.
There are so many stories in this image, it's hard to know where to look. first, my compliments on your clouds. Nicely handled, and perfect for the subject matter.
Then, those three towers (I thought they were nuclear cooling towers in the thumbnail). Those stand out: but what are the bunch of structures at the bottom? Including the curved eggish structure with the light under it (is it being boiled?) ---joking---.
Finally, we come to the people on what I'm going to call the pier, staying away from the beastie who is spitting at them. And how about the (presumed) people on top of the towers?)
Is there a point to this long comment? Sure. Fun, strange, kept me interested for a very, very long time. I'm still trying to figure out the relationships. And that's the fun part of a photograph. And yes, I'll come back to it again, and yet again. And to facilitate that, well, it will have to go into my favorites, won't it.
