I am participating in the "Why a '5' not a '6'?" commenting activity (see recent forum thread). Viewers are asked to leave a comment with some of their votes of '5' letting the photographer know why, for them, it fell short of a vote of '6'. If you have found this comment useful, you may wish to offer some of your own to those images where you vote 5.
I like the almost abstract presentation of this. Why a five and not a six? The lighting, especially in the distance (the glacier, I suppose), feels a bit harsh. I think shooting earlier or later in the day might have produced more dramatic shadows and offered a lot more options. Still, it's very compelling, and I like the cool tones and quirky geological forms. |

Took me a while to wrap my brain around what my eyes are seeing. Unfortunately, for a shot like this, that isn't a good thing :-/ |

Comment is part of the 5 versus 6 comment, sorry, but I'm sure an interesting subject like that could have been better captured, I gave this a 5 because I don't find it captures what must be awe inspiring |
