I realize this was a confusing challenge topic but I don't get this at all. I don't see the connection to a lightning rod (other than the object contains metal) and I don't see the miniature-ness. I can't really tell what I'm looking at. Sorry.

forgive me for being dense, but i'm not sure how this meets the challenge. it appears to be more of a macro shot. as such, it might be a stronger image with more dof.

I think you might have misunderstood the challenge.
This appears to be a macro shot of a real brace for a lighting rod.
I see nothing in the image that would indicate that it was a miniature, which was a key element in the challenge.
Interesting image though.

I don't think this is a miniature at all. And the photo isn't rather interesting besides.
