As Brennan stated, this location is the Sutro Baths in San Francisco. It is located right next to the Cliff House near Ocean Beach.

I used my B+W 10 stop ND filter for this exposure. I was a little late for the sunset but was very lucky that there was not a fog bank out on the coast, so the color stuck around even after the sun had gone below the horizon. I didn't have time to set up my timer so this exposure was set to 30 seconds. A longer exposure would have required a remote and bulb mode. This is a single exposure. To balance out the exposure, I used a "hand" filter across the top of the image. I ballparked how long to use said "hand" filter and left the sky exposed for about a quarter of the exposure then covered the top of the frame with the "hand" filter. This is why the clouds have relatively little blur while the water is smooth.
