This old farm is up in Preston CT. The farm house is currently (and slowly) being repaired. I think they will be leaving the fence for last - if it holds up at all.

I shot this image with spot metering to control the bright sky behind - leaving the foreground quite dark. I tried an HDR treatment (3 exposures -2,0,+2EV) but I didn't like the result I was getting - but I may go back and give it a go later....

Processing: Opened RAW file in LR2 and adjusted exposure, recovery, and fill to 'balance' the exposure. Exported to CS4. Applied NIK Silver Efex Pro. Adjusted levels in sky with masking. Dodge/ burn throughout image, especially on windows and fence, applied OnOne Phototools 2.5 filter with soft black. Merged to single layer, duplicate layer and skew/ perspective adjustment to 'right' the house. Resize, adamus sharpening, save for web.

Part of the dream is fixing the fence. Do like the gritty look.

great relevant shot; this is set up for a ribbon of some sort- the composition, texture f wood rock and buildings and the sky- just perfect. Top three for sure.

This is a very strong challenge and there have been some great B&W conversions of which this is one. There have been some great pics but a few of the great ones didn't "feature" a fence. To me this photo is spot on, wow.

Nice photo, don't understand the title though, with the fallen down pickets....Oh yeah I get it, it's a bit like the American economy at the moment.

Great black and white conversion to add a lot of mood to this photo.
