I'm not sure what's causing it, but I'm seeing some distracting artifacts around the edges.

Straight out of a botanical textbook. Not sure what's going on with the out of focus edges ~ same thing happened to mine after post processing. Otherwise looks good and you've captured the 3rd dimension.

for ME...I would really like to have the whole center of the flower in total sharp focus...mind you this is pretty...but the OOF area in the middle of the flower draws away from the beautiful flower

I like this a lot. Great depth of field - it's hard to get all those petal edges in focus.
