 In remembrance of my Mother-In-Law (of 45 years). My husband planted this field of wildflowers last fall when his Mom was very ill. We were hoping that she would be able to see the first blooms, however, she passed away in February. While in the nursing home every day she would ask if the wildflowers were blooming. She was a wonderful lady and we miss her very much. I have several images that I like but thought this one would be best for DPC. Thanks for looking and voting.

Thanks to everyone for the kind comments and especially for the favorites; that makes the challenge very worthwhile. I agree with several who mentioned the border (I don't like it either; did it at the last minute). I am really surprised that it has done so well.

what a beautiful remembrance .. it has an almost poignant feel with that one flower standing out the way it is ... after reading your story even more so .. :)

I wish I were bold enough to do this for a challenge. I absolutely love the color...and the blur is great as is the focus on the main flower.

Wow this stands out, great background, would have liked to be a little closer to main subject to give it more dominance over the rest, but great composition.

This is a shameless "eye candy" shot and for this, I appreciate it.
The totally unnecessary border (IMO) takes it into an unfortunate commercial realm of a greeting card, which is a pity. I decreased the score to 7.

Pleasing composition, colours and bokeh - I particularly like the way the focus falls off to show softly focussed flowers echoing the main subject, all the way through to an impressionistic swathe of coloured bokeh. Personally not very keen on the green border, but no deductions for it.

Oh the colors in this are wonderful. I love blanket flowers. The red against the greenish blue is superb. Absolutely spectacular job. :)

This flower has a very deep beatiful color, but I think it makes the background too washed out. I also think a darker colored frame would've created more of an impacting image.

I have given your photo a 10. What I have learned from this challenge is that fields of flowers rarely photograph well. Your picture shows me what I have been doing wrong...focus on one flower and bokah the rest. I appreciate the lesson I have learned from your entry. I hope you win.
