 Well I think I had something really nice to work with and I kind of botched it.

Late-night editing once again has plaid a hand, but to be honest I just didn't know what I was doing, even beginning with focal length.

It seemed like a massive scene with these foreboding clouds, so I went with my wide angle at the 24mm length. Sadly I have nothing between 24mm and 50mm (at least that I typically carry around).

Because of the 24mm I had a massive amount of dead space in front of me that had to be cropped out to keep it interest. I feel as though it's lost a lot of impact with the buildings being so far off.

And then in processing I think there's just too much contrast. The lights are too light and the darks are too dark. It was a wild scene, and it got crazy shortly after (fortunately I had a wine tent to duck into to wait it out), but I think the processing is just a bit too much.

Once again, I want to take the raw material and give it another go.

I like the aspect ratio and the border. the sky lends the apparent wrath. I like a pretty shot with a touch of wrath- and you nailed that, the relevance of Steinbeck being important or not.
