An unfortunate epidosde of speedvoting caused me to miss too many wonderful details in this image. My penance will be the addition of Kafka to my summertime reading list. (He might even bump Ambler who's next in the queue.)
Fortunately I'm no speedreader... |

Wonderful. One of my favourites. Has a Joseph Cornell feel to it. Boxed memories. |

thanks, peeps. sweet to morgue out on page one.
herfotoman's comment gives me great pause: possibly I have dealt too lightly with archetypal symbols, and he is sensitive enough to sense it.

great framing in every sense. if that's your Da then you must be kafkaesque. |

The little girls expression, holding the beetle, the framing, everything about this is perfect. Congrats on top 10 and entry in the morgue. |

This one scared me. So much that I did not want to come back to it, even though it lingered in my mind the longest of all the entries. |

I like the way you used the subject simultaneously as the frame. Nice prop placement. |

Yes, it has the look of a picture from a biography (not Kafka's though). A very nice shot. (I voted a while ago) |

The symbolism is rather opaque, but intriguing. The colors are lovely and well balanced and the items displayed seem layered with hidden meaning. On the whole it reminds me of a Cornell box; which I love. |

The color palate on this is gorgeous. I love the inclusion of the bone and the bug. I just wish the lines had been straighter/squarer to emphasize the way the photo is boxed in by its border and the objects. |

There is such a crispness to this image! And these dueling textures - the ephemeral feather/the crunchy branches/the tight, hard coil of the shell, etc. The duality of the child's adorableness, and the grotesqueness of the scarab... Themes of life and death, preservation and loss. I love it. |

excellent idea!!!although I would not put the beatle on top of him, maybe somewhere close but definelty not on top.who knows about kafka, knows his writing too ad would have understood the meaning of the beatle anyway.
Love the shot and great idea!!!!! |

So you would have had to have read Kafka to understand the symbology of this image. The texture and imagery play well into the Kafka theme. This is superb. |
