It's a reflection in the liquid in the dropper he's using.
This image is THE BOMB. It is awesome. Perfect lighting on the chemist's face as well; just enough to show it, but not enough to distract from the foreground. It keeps the interest. |

Excellent shot...one of my 10's for the week. the composition is great and I like "you" in the background contrasting the clarity of the cells...good use of colors and dark background. |

Yiipeeeeee!
I'm thrilled! Never have thought I could win!
Thanx so much to everybody!
And congrats to all other winners: it has been a tight race!
It has been a really exiting week for me.
When the challenge was called out 2 weeks ago, I instantly thought "That's something for the colorful dyes in the lab."
So I grabbed a few of them, made solutions and mixtures, filled them into the cells for spectroscopic measurement (polished quartz-glass), placed them on a mirror, put a UV-lamp next to them (you see its blue light in the reflections) and illuminated myself from below. That's it!
Only a little sharpening and contrast enhancing was done later.
So thanx again everybody on this wonderfull site!

Wow! This is great. I never knew chemistry could be so beautiful! The face behined the bottles is the perfect touch for turning science into occupation.
I'm sure you'll do well in this challenge. And you'll probably even win! It's that good. |
