I'm about 5 challenges behind on my congrats, and I'm trying to catch up.
What a great capture! This would have worked for sense of sound, as well. I can just hear the roar and the crash! Congrats on the red. :) |

I thought this looked like Wollongong! Great capture. I have been drenched on that break wall several times before - unfortunately not with a camera at hand, and also not in many years. You make me miss my old home town! |

Great picture, the details in the wave are inspiring, love the green tones. The dark sky with the land in the background is really dramatic and the foreground really provides a nice framing. |

But the important question - did you get wet?? Way cool shot - congrats on the ribbon. And interesting how the turbulence depicted here seems to mirror some of what you've mentioned is occuring in your own life. Might be why it turned out so well! |

Congrats on your 1st ribbon so soon! Well done!
PS You will find out soon that the top scorers don't publish their scores. I was disappointed quite a few times when I started at DPC. |

Powerful image. I like the black foreground, more dramatic, like a Disney animation. |

Well this has been a most welcome distraction, thanks everyone! With a new baby, death in the family, and moving 2 houses at once i really needed something to take my mind off it all!
I realise that the subject as opposed to my technique was the real winner here, the foreground was a problem for me too, but i never thought to put my 480ex on. Due to the heavy spray the original photo was a little white and washed out, so i bumped the curves and saturation. I had put the camera on spot metering because the breakwall (the boxes with the straps!) kept on exposing ok but blowing out the waves completely.
A minor mention goes out to posthumous whose brusque/rude correction of my grammar in an earlier challenge irritated me to the point of getting on the web and relearning what i had forgotten about singular possessive apostrophes. I hereby present to him the inaugural Punctuation Pedant Pendant. :P

I love how you got close up to the side for an awesome angle on the wave. The green in the wave along with the purple of the sky is wonderful and impressive. |

Holy Toledo. The lighting on this is extraordinary. Front page material. Looks like you put yourself in harm's way for this shot. What an angry ocean in the bg, and that sky. But to capture that wave at the moment of cresting... Wow. Straight to faves. |

Nice composition and lighting... crop out just a bit more of the foreground, the "box" with a "strap" is very distracting to the overall image. |

There's just something about that gray sky with the hint of purple, in contrast to the green of the waves. :) |
