Since people expressed unfamiliarity with the waratah I put in yesterday, here is another shot of it. This is showing above my neighbours' fence. The shrub is about 6 or 7 feet tall and probably almost as wide. Although they are Australian natives, they belong to the same family as African proteas (proteacae) Their botanical name is Telopea Speciosissima

It is interesting how all the cone shaped flowers are oriented "point up" toward the sky. A deep blue sky would kick this one up a couple of steps.

Is this considered and "exotic?" It looks very other worldy to me. I love the shade of red. :)
