I have become obsessed with trying to get a "Vermeer light" on still lives in the studio. I set my light inside a custom window box, 2 taped together beer boxes, with the dividers acting as a grid, with fabric over the end to filter the light and painter's tape muntins to get the reflection I wanted. it failed but I learned a bit.

The deep shadows and strong highlights are part of the look, so while expect some not to like them, they come with the package. Once I get the light source bigger and closer I expect them to be a touch softer while keeping the light.

Now you're talking! I'll take them and save the Pauillac for a while.

Nice set-up, but I think you tried to pull out too much texture, especially in the glass. It makes the glasses and the bottles look dirty. I love that the marble is broken--unexpected throw-back to ancient Greece, which is what still lifes with wine always make me think of : )

On an unrelated note, I'm guessing this was taken by an American because of the color of that cheese. Cheddar with wine makes me want to cry : )

A nice set up, but I think the light is too harsh, especially on the bottles

Nice still life. Very tempting too :)
Would've preferred a warmer flash tone (yellow gel?) to blend better with the nice warm colors of the food. The white flash makes the food a little less appetizing.

Good still life. Has all the right elements, light, colour, props, even an odd broken granite cutting board. Pity about the awful dark shade blotch on the table cloth bottom left.

Hmm yet another great château - Lynch Bages. I feel like I'm in heaven just by the look of this
