 I fully expect to be nailed in the head by the subject-is-looking-at-you-so-it-is-not-a-candid division of dpc. :P

That said, this was truly spontaneous. I was shooting a family reunion-that-wasn't-called-a-reunion-because-it-made-uncle-norman-feel-old and this little guy was swinging. As he spun around, he was smiling and I just happened to time it when he was facing me. No other frame has him looking *at* me, and no other frame catches that grin like this one.

Lovely candid Karma! I didn't vote in this challenge because that thread was getting under my skin (though I try not to let it happen, sometimes it still does). At least you did fairly well despite the comments. I didn't fair nearly so well. ;D

It's a sweet shot, lovely light and composition, and I would say there is much candor in the subject's smile. I would not like to pronounce one way or another on the photo's candidity - the thought of it makes me grumpy and ruins my appreciation of this shining little light beam. Had I voted this would have been at my higher end.

I would not call it a candid, but I really love framing, simplicity of the picture and B&W treatment. Very well done, excellent photo.

This is darling but with him looking straight at the camera smiling, it doesn't have that candid feel, but maybe he was just grinning cause he was so happy. :) I like it.
