We were actually separated by a 6' privacy fence, he couldn't see what I was doing. What I was doing was shooting insect macro's with a manual focus lens, so I was no more prepared then he was. I figured the severe backfocusing and blown forehead highlights would be signs this wasn't staged. I could care less about the score, but I do care about not being perceived as entering in the true spirit of the challenge. I lifted the camera and got off three quick shots before he turned around, I was surprised to see his nose right above the crack in the last image. Next time around I'll use my longest lens from a rooftop, live and learn, :)

Very underscored. For what is worth, I didn't really think this was staged. Perhaps the postprocessing is a tadtoo strong, but nothing that disturbing. I found it a pretty interesting image actually.

nice idea but doesnt strike me as candid, he must ahve known you were sticking a camera in his face unless ouve got a 1200mm, not sure about the over sharpening and tone mapping for a candid challenge either, think this would have faired much better in a FS
