Stripping involves the preparation of film negatives for offset printing. This i combinattion of backlighting from the light table, on-camera flash, and overhead yellow (non-UV) flourescent lighting. Minor tone adjustment and sharpening, but no other processing or cropping.
I actually rarely do this phase of the job any more, I now do most of my work on the computer.
I've always wanted apply for unemployment insurance using this job title, or to run for the political office on the platform that I've cut more red tape -- literally -- than any candidate they've ever met. (UV-opaque red tape is used to block out areas from exposure.)

Wow I didn't know anyone did that anymore. My Dad retired from that job about 14 years ago right when it started changing over to computers. Too bad you did not score better, I always thought the title of stripper was funny. Anytime anyone asked what my Dad did, I said the same and always got a gasp out of it.

Good luck with your future shots

Talya's critique (Critique club on break)
I understood this photo right from the beginning, even without the title, you could understand what your job was. I'm not sure why you placed where you did, you should have placed better.

composition - I think it's pretty good composition. good use of the rule of thirds and also good use of lines leading to your hand. Nice job on this.

exposure - this must have been really tough. with the bright background you did a fairly good job of getting your hand in there. Wish you could see it a little more clearly but it's understandable why it had to be this way.

Lighting - with the exception of the hand the rest is very well done. Nice job! no hotspots and very equally lit.

focus - perfect, no complaints here. I love the way you can read the whole thing. Excellent job.

fits the challenge - perfect. Excellent job with putting in the human aspect to really show what was happening here. I think it was very understandable what you were trying to do.

overall - i think this was a fairly good picture, it loses maybe a point or two for not being an extremely interesting photo, but the title helps with that. Overall I gave it a 7 very good job!

Paul, this one got ripped! You should have placed much higher than dead middle. Not too many comments to go on, but it seems your title was a tad too clever. I gave you a 9. I liked it! Great shot!

Very sharp well focused photo, Well cropped, good subject. Maybe a little dark, could use a little less contrast. Roses seem a little blown out. Just a little busy for me. Not zooming so closely might help that. Probably came in tight so could read the pring, and you can, but this made it appear cramped. Otherwise a real good photo. Nice 7 PTL
