I wish I could display this larger. It loses a lot being so small. Oh, and this was not blurred in pp. Other than a B&W conversion and a slight crop, I did nothing else. Working really hard to get most things right in camera. I was at the 105 end of the lens.

I spent a lot of time holding the camera at ground level and shooting. Tough to get just the right composition when you aren't looking into the viewfinder. I stayed dry and clean though... I do wish I could bump the surfer a little lower in the image but that was the top of the picture and I can't do much about that.

Wonderful in so many ways. I was just thinking it reminded me of one of Ben's shots and then I noticed he had also commented the same. never a bad thing in my mind to be reminded of one of Ben's images :)

Very effective use of selective focus within a few feet of the camera to let the more distant surfer take on its elemental form in its environment. By blurring the details, the figure assumes a familiar, even monumental, posture on the beach and in our minds.

Love how that glimpse of focus stands out opposed to blur.

the bits of reflection off that sillhouetted shape are terrific. And the composition rocks.
F8, fast shutter speed... not sure how you did this but I love it.... all of it.

This is beautiful! The wee bits of light flashing off the wave are a perfect answer to the surfer's anticipatory stance.

Nicely done. Reminds me of my surfer image.

This perspective is often ignored, and I'm pleased to see you getting wet and sandy for a unique perspective. The surfer appears to be engaged with bright white bokeh/specular highlights. A taunt of sorts, inviting him to ride. I'm not sure how you obtained such a narrow DOF at f/8 unless it's a crop at the 105mm end or blurred in post. Either way, an enjoyable image.

What a lovely silhouette! For me this is simple and minimalistic when I first look at it and yet the more I look the more there is to appreciate. Such as the broken reflection, the thin band of sand in focus and the bright circles of confusion from the braking waves. And yet my eye is always pleasantly drawn back to the figure who reminds me of the Silver Surfer from the Fantastic Four movie.
