Snorkel truck ... being placed in storage facility. This is part of a collection of fire fighting equipment stored near Estes Park, CO.
I'm guessing from Parsons, KS because it's close enough to Colorado.
From DOFMaster
Focus distance: 20 ft.
Near Limit: 19.6 ft.
Far Limit: 20.4 ft.
Total DOF: 0.79 ft.

Well, it is a shallow DOF, but it's on a big subject. Less than a foot of in focus subject!!! So, people are comparing this to the macro shots in the challenge. On a relative basis, this is pretty shallow, but I understand the drop off in front and behind is not what people are accustomed to seeing. It's okay.

Wow, one person commented that this image was mostly in focus. That's not the way it looks on my monitor. This image is only in focus in a narrow slice about where the axe rests. In front and behind that point, the focus drops off rapidly. I question the eyes and monitors of those who cannot see the focus falloff.

Last day of voting and the score is low. I'm thinking many voters really didn't carefully look at this image. Quick voting by inexperienced photographers. |

I like the fill-the-frame composition. |

The DoF really needs to be shallower... most of the image is in focus. I suspect you need a lens with a wider aperture (or a longer telephoto lens at full zoom). |

Don't think shallow DOF would be the word here... |

Hope they don't use uniforms, otherwise somebody is making it away with their best truck :) |

This is one of my thoughts for this challenge as well, but I couldn't find an interesting angle. Unfortunately, I fear this image misses that mark too. It's just a photo of a fire truck that doesn't stand out from the crowd.
Note that I'm not trying to be mean, just honest. |

Not as shallow of a DOF as some will require, I fear. |
