This is a very rare moment in the life of the Crowned Lapwing (formerly Crowned Plover). According to all my ID books, they've never been seen splashing in water bathing like many other bird species do. I'm ecstatic to have this shot as it is very unique.

The one on the left looks like a Hippie with a headband :) getting his first wash of the year. Ok Ok Stereotype!

Love it when animals do something the experts say that they never do. Even better to catch it in pixels. Great shot and I love the hippy headband.

It looks like they're in a marathon race and the one on the left just stumbled! Great photography :)

You know, from the look on their eyes, I'm betting they didn't get the memo that their species doesn't splash lol. They really now how to spray that water! Congrats on getting a unique shot.

They remind me of olympic swimmers....the guy in the front is saying "I think I've won" and the guy int the back is saying "dang"
Anyways....apparently the book is wrong! Beautiful capture.

excellent action capture, especially as the heads are still while the bodies 'work it'

Methinks, Harvey, that you may worry about finding a nature shot.
Somehow, they seem to find you. This, of course, is excellent.
the beautifully focused eyes alone on those birds are worth the 'price of admission'.

Are you sure they̢۪re bathing? It looks like they̢۪re drowning. ;-)

Great capture. I̢۪m really liking your bird shots.
